Beautiful Gite for 4 People
The gite lies in a quiet region of woodland,woods and low hills.We are surrounded by many small villages,one of which is Basignac le Haut which leads down to the river Dordogne with its gorges and dams. A medieval town,not far away, is Argentat lying directly on the Dordogne and is well worth discovering. Other places of interest are Collonges-la-Rouge with its red stone houses, Rocamadour perched on top of a large cliff overlooking green valleys. Le Lioran ski resort is in the Cantal but can be reached in under one hour. A ten minute drive takes you to th village of Auriac where you will find a large lake bordered by grass and trees; This is an ideal place for a swim, sunbathe or picnic. At one end of the lake there is shallow water and a sandy beach, suitable for children. This is supervised in the summer. In the mornings you can fish for trout. Tennis courts are nearby. The village of Darazac has 160 inhabitants The gite is attached to the main house with its own independent entrance. It has a well-equipped kitchen-diner and sitting area, two bedrooms, one with twin beds, the other with a double bed, a shower room with wash-basin, wc and shower. There is a balcony with table and chairs, looking on to a meadow and distant houses; The large village of St Privat (5 min drive) has all services like shops, supermarket, tourist office, restaurants, post office, doctor, etc. Many of our visitors enjoy swimming in the lakes, cycling or walking around Darazac, and of course eating in one of the excellent restaurants within easy reach. One of the most popular activities is a day out on the Dordogne, canoeing from Argentat to Beaulieu where you can swim and picnic on the shaded grass.
