One of the Most Ancient Farmhouses of the Salento Region

Masseria Chicco Rizzo is one of the most ancient farmhouses of the Salento region. It is located along the roman road that started at Roca Vecchia and led to Nardò and then to S. Maria al Bagno. It has survived over the centuries keeping untouched the appeal of the rural world. In the Eighteenth century it was used as a staging post for the horses and now thanks to its recent restoration it becomes a marvellous destination for those who love nature, the succession of the seasons, organic farming, warmth.

It is located in the Grecìa Salentina, the linguistic island of the Salento region standing between Lecce and Otranto, where griko, a language of Byzantine origin, is still spoken. The farmhouse is located in the magnificent Mediterranean countryside that separates two of the most interesting griko villages, that’s to say Martignano and Sternatia, both reachable on foot with our trekking paths. These two villages which are very lively from the cultural point of view show to their guests the imagine of the original South able to welcome people rather than tourists with its monuments, traditions and high quality services.

The farm

Chicco Rizzo Farm has devoted itself for generations to the production of typical crops, notably wheat and olive oil. From June 2010 it will turn to farm holiday establishment, thanks to a four-year long restoration of the ancient farmhouse belonging to Carcagnì family. Then the agrarian production will combine with the effort to stir up the emotions of those looking for a quiet nook in the griko-Salentine countryside.

Accomodation

Thanks to the scrupulous restoration of Masseria Chicco Rizzo 13 finely appointed rooms are at guests’ disposal with en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, hairdryer, minibar, Lcd television, safety deposit box, internet connection. A room is available for disabled people.

B&B or HB accomodation (breakfast and dinner)

A rich breakfast with local typical products is served in the restaurant hall of the farmhouse or outdoor. Every day a selection of complimentary newspapers and magazines are available from reception. HB accommodation must be booked together with the room and includes breakfast and dinner. Dinner includes typical dishes that follow the growing periods of the products. The guests may choose in the morning among the menus for dinner.

Swimming pool

The farm offers its guests a relaxing pool area with sun beds and umbrellas. At the pool you can order food and drinks typical.

Cancelation Policy

Booking cancellation A cancellation fee of 30% of the total amount will apply to all cancelled bookings made within 7 days before the arrival. The lack of booking cancellation will be calculated 100% of the full payment. Deposit Upon confirmation of a reservation a 30% deposit is requested for bookings in high season.
