Anse La Farine cottage is nestled amongst the lush greenery of the Baie St Anne on the island of Praslin, Seychelles. Praslin, an island floating in quiet beauty, is second in size to Mahé, being 12 kms long & no more than 5kms wide at any point. The local population is around 7000. Areas of great natural beauty surround Praslin, but the “island of palms” is the only place on earth you will see coco de mer palms growing in profusion
The self catering cottage is an authentic Indonesian home, dismantled & shipped to Praslin & reconstructed to its original form. The furnishings & fittings of the interior remain true to the Indonesian style, but with all modern conveniences added. The unspoilt private beach is 20 meters from the cottage, providing snorkelling practically at your front door. This is indeed part of nature’s paradise, in season you can watch the turtles laying their eggs right in front of you, & the brilliant , colourful marine life is freely visible whilst snorkelling just off the beach. The water in the bay is safe & warm, providing abundant viewing opportunities, as well as sustenance in the form of edible fish, octopus etc.
The self catering cottage sleeps 2 comfortably in a king size bed, & a fitted kitchen is provided with all crockery, cutlery & appliances (refrigerator/freezer, 2 plate stove, microwave oven, kettle & toaster). A modern bathroom (shower, basin, toilet) opens off the main room. Chairs & tables as well as loungers are provided on the patio, for those sunset cocktails in paradise. Loungers & umbrellas are provided on the private beach. Accessible only by boat from the main Praslin jetty, the cottage is an ideal honeymoon destination. No urban or traffic noise whatsoever, just the balmy breeze rustling through the palm trees & the crashing of waves on the shore.
This is indeed one of the best Seychelles accommodation properties!
Linen & bath towels are provided, and a canoe is available for paddling around the bay. Please take your own beach towels – the thinner type is better as towels do not dry well in the humidity there.
For the holidaying family a cot can be supplied in the cottage, & 2 single beds are available in the loft of the boathouse (15m from the cottage) for older children – however it is very basic & no bathroom facilities are provided in the boathouse.
A full mosquito net is provided over the four poster bed, & a ceiling fan provides a cool breeze inside the cottage. The site is very safe & one can sleep with all the shutters & doors open at night – the only invaders you are likely to see are a couple of “mossies” & one or two geckos!
Pascal (the caretaker) & his wife, Sheila, live on the property & can provide you with most services. You can arrange cleaning of the cottage with Sheila, & Pascal will be able to take you around the various sightseeing attractions in his motorboat. Fees for these services may be discussed directly with Pascal & Sheila. Both of them are excellent cooks, & for around SR100 per person they will happily prepare a typical Creole meal for you, often using fresh seafood Pascal catches from the sea right in front of the cottage. (Their octopus curry is highly recommended!).
You will be hard pressed to find better Seychelles self catering accommodation elsewhere.
