Settimo Cielo is the highest property of the medieval village of Casoli, around 20 minutes drive from the famous spa town of Bagni di Lucca, and 40 minutes away from the beautiful city of Lucca. Because of our desire to create a peaceful environment no children allowed unless the whole property is taken over. There's no single room supplement!
All the cottages are furnished with antiques and objets d'art, and feature every modern convenience. There's a 17 metre salted water infinity pool on one of the terraces, surrounded by an olive grove and imaginative planting and alongside a canvas pavilion providing welcome shade (the perfect spot for lunch or dinner),a barbecue and a beach hut fitted with a fridge for chilled poolside drinks. A restaurant/bar opened in Casoli last year for guests who can stir themselves to leave the magic of Settimo Cielo. You can wander in the fields surrounding the house, or take longer walks across the mountains.
Although the property sleeps 4 we are happy to rent just to a couple though the price remains the same. Situated alongside the main house, this is the largest of the cottages and overlooks the huge vine-covered terrace with table and seating for 12, with a view of the valley and surrounding mountains beyond. There is a smaller shaded terrace alongside for privacy. The cottage comprises a sitting room with wood burning stove, central heating and TV, with an adjoining kitchen which, despite its small size, is fully equipped. Upstairs is a very pretty double bedroom, alongside a large shower room and on the top floor are two large single beds.

Accessibility
We are located at the top of a mule track, so when you arrive and depart we will be there to take you and your luggage (or just your luggage if you’ve packed a lot! ) up the track. The climb is steep! Because of this we do not recommend settimo cielo to anyone suffering walking problems, and, for the sake of our other guests, children are not allowed unless the whole accomodation is taken. Also, out of consideration for our resident dog, Gucci, we are not able to welcome dogs.
Outside
On one of the lower terraces we have created a stunning salted water infinity pool, backed by a newly planted olive grove. There are large terraces for sunbathing, a beach hut for changing (fitted with a fridge for chilled poolside drinks), and a huge canvas pavilion providing welcome shade and a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Each house has at least one outside terrace, with table, umbrella and chairs for outside dining. There is also a large barbecue by the pool and there are numerous areas around the property to sit quietly and read, or just enjoy the spectacular views.
How to get there
We recommend a car, but if your idea of heaven is just to chill out then it’s not essential, as long as you’re happy to eat at our local restaurant. Pick-up to and from Pisa airport can be arranged, given notice. The charge would be 100 euros. The alternative is the train from Pisa Centrale (a single train stop from Pisa airport) to Bagni di Lucca (though there are a limited number of direct services. Pisa airport is 90 minutes away, Florence around 1 hour.
Distances
Bagni di Lucca around 20 minutes, Lucca 40 minutes, Barga 30 minutes. In the area there are also facilities for tennis, canooing and horse riding.
The wonderful walled city of Lucca is around 40 minutes away, and during the summer its theatre hosts numerous classical music concerts and the main square hosts rock concerts featuring some of the world's top musicians (Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paolo Nutini, Simply Red, to name but a few.)
Further Details
The Lucca Summer Festival schedule is a major event, so its worth checking out their website to see what acts will be featured this year. We can organise tickets for any guests. There are numerous excellent restaurants in the area, but we are particularly lucky that last year a restaurant opened in Casoli itself, serving excellent Tuscan food. They’re open for lunch and dinner, but booking is essential so make sure you let us know in plenty of time if you'd like a table. There are also regular ‘happenings’ at the restaurant, including Karaoki evenings! Bagni di Lucca is also famous for its spa, and there are many special treatments that you can book in for during your stay. Bagni also has 2 supermarkets and excellent restaurants, cafes and bars, banks, cash machines and a post office.
