Its origins date back to the time of the Arab domination. In fact, the name "Fain" derives from "Ain", Arabic for "source", "water". Many legends have their origin in this magical estate. The majestic ombú flanking the entrance has a mysterious origin. Over 500 years ago, as Faín Viejo religious residence, a monk came from overseas, tired and sick, fell dead at the door of Fain. He was buried right there in his pocket and brought ombú seed. Also, the chronicles of Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz) where the hacienda, speak Faín treasure hidden on the property in gold bars. Some said that there was an underground room underneath the courtyard with columns of gold, others were below the cross next to the ombú. The famous treasure has never been found.
