Originally built in the 18th Century, Dar Vedra has been restored, renovated and extended in the Arabic-Andalusian style before re-opening as a guesthouse in 2006. With 7 bedrooms surrounding two courtyards, the house allows each and every guest to find their own comfort, and relax wherever it suits them.
The guesthouse offers a vast roof terrace, painted in bright colours inspired by the nearby Majorelle garden. From here, you have a magnificent view over the Bab Doukkala mosque, the roofs of the ocher City with the minaret of the Koutoubia, the symbol of Marrakech, in the background. In the distance, the snow-capped Atlas Mountains close the horizon.
In stark contrast to the bright colors of the terrace, the inside of the riad is of a more graphic style. The natural bright light of the sun is filtred by large bands of white wool letting the blue sky shine through bouncing off the white walls, illuminating the patio.
The design and decoration of the bedrooms showcase the traditional materials of the country as well as the age-old know-how and expertise of the moroccan craftsmen. Zellij in the bathrooms, tadelakt on the walls and floors, leather, or finely-woven wool from the goats of the Atlas Mountains to cover the beds.
Discreetly scattered around, personal items, ornaments and family photos signifies the presence and warmth of the owners, who, with their service team, will ensure the wellbeing of their guests.
