Description of the :- Beautiful Marathea Tower-Traditional Hotel
The hotel "TOWER OF MARATHEA" housed in a three-storey townhouse building, in green surroundings, 37 km from the city of Karpenissi. The building was constructed in 1855 by workers of Epirus, who hold the secrets of stone and wood, materials which, in combination with the technique of these people, gave structures of special architectural beauty but also high mechanical strength in time.
A key feature of the building is the tower - fortified architecture (tower), describing the need for defense of the first owners. Witnesses of this architecture are the ramparts, the stone "scalding bowl" in the main entrance, the combat turret (cage), the wooden crossbars at the main entrances of the building etc. In 2006, a historical monument and began restoration work and change the use of a hotel.
The main concern of the interventions that followed was the respect and preserve both the character of the building as a fortified residence and the number of architectural elements and construction details. For this purpose, the materials used were only stone and wood.
