Arraiolos is a small town in Alentejo, one of the best kept secrets of Portugal. It is where the real “tapetes de Arraiolos” (Arraiolos rugs) are made. There are plenty of shops to tempt you, as well as to see how they are made.
But actually, all around this area there is plenty to see and do!
The whole property is set in a square patio: straight ahead there is the old fountain, to the right some unused barns and to the left, the house itself.
Inside, there is a lovely, cosy sitting/dining-room, with a huge fireplace (typical of the area), very pleasant in the chilly winter months. It opens onto a lovely patio, fabulous for al-fresco meals, and the swimming-pool (parents with small children should be aware that the pool is not fenced-in). The kitchen, fully equipped with all the modern commodities, yet it has kept the old, charming aspect.
Then, there are three bedrooms: one double with en-suite bathroom and two twins, sharing a bathroom.
