A Charming House Casa da Farmácia Located in Peso da Regua
The Casa da Farmacia is a hundred-year-old house built in 1904, and subsequently rebuilt by our family to maintain its more charismatic features: the beautiful granite façade and stone walls, the terraces over the garden and the farmhouse of the town of Armamar; the large fireplace and oven used in the old days for smoking food; its exclusive front door, unique to the region, at a height of over 4 metres. The restoration of the house was carefully carried out to maintain its rural charm and equip it with all the modern comforts.
The Casa da Farmacia has a charming patio, full of flowers and a lounge area and bar equipped with a plasma TV and cable channels, where guests can sample wines from the Duero region, relax and enjoy board games or computer games. There is also a pleasant dining room for breakfasts and dinners, as well as 10 suites which are elegantly decorated and equipped with a private toilet, central heating, TV, air-conditioning and free wireless internet access.
The Casa da Farmacia enjoys the best location in Armamar, situated in the old quarter of the town and in the heart of the Duero (a region granted world heritage status by UNESCO) and just a few metres from the river Duero, near wine-producing villages, medieval routes and at close proximity to places steeped in history, culture and artistic interest. This prime location places guests of the Casa da Farmacia within easy access of beautiful vineyards and wineries where they can participate in wine tourism activities and tastings. Guests can also visit charming apple orchards, thanks to which Armamar is the capital of the mountain apple.
On arrival, guests of the Casa da Farmacia are welcomed with a complementary tasting of port and homemade liqueurs. Breakfast, which is included in the price of the accommodation, consists of homemade, regional products of excellent quality, notably freshly squeezed orange juice, sweet delights and homemade cakes prepared following ancient recipes which date back to the era of our grandparents and the region's traditional Saloio bread.
