The Hesperides were the nymphs who tended a blissful garden bathed in the golden light of sunset at the edge of Oceanus. Hesperias House is a beautifully crafted stone property surrounded by exquisite gardens with beautiful views over the sea. It is situated on a hillside above Aegina Town surrounded by nature.
The cottage comprises two parts: The main entrance leads to an open plan kitchen, living room and dining area. This is a spacious, light and airy room with a farmhouse style appeal. In the living area are comfortable sofas set around an original fire-place. Throughout, there are many artistic touches and original features have been retained. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a lovely old pine table. In front of the door leading to the patio is the main dining area seating up to 8 guests. Off the living room, is a very spacious and light bedroom with two single beds, and a bathroom with shower and WC.
The second part of the cottage has its own entrance from outside. This is a serene and beautiful space that has been very cleverly designed: There is a traditional platform double bed where a trap door can be raised to one side of the platform with steps that lead down to a lovely bathroom with shower and WC. To the other side of the room are two single divan beds for smaller children not yet old enough to stay on their own in the adjacent cottage. The second part of the cottage has its own patio with chairs and table.
Outside the main living area of the cottage is a shaded patio with many climbing plants including a mass of sky-blue plumbago. There are in-built stone benches with cushions and a large outdoor dining table. The property is surrounded by masses of flowers which frame the view of the sea below - sculptural aloe vera plants and century trees with a profusion of deep blue agapanthus, clumps of tall, pink lilies and masses of brightly coloured geraniums interspersed between olive and carob trees as well as many other indigenous flowers have been planted in a natural way to enhance the beauty of the cottage. From the garden and patios, guests can enjoy a wonderful view of the bay below with small islands in the distance.
Hesperias House is situated in very peaceful surroundings on a hillside above Aegina Town approximately 5 mins by car or 20 mins by foot. The vibrant town of Aegina with its marina, colourful markets with excellent fresh produce, artistic shops and great variety of restaurants, little traditional tavernas along the back streets, and its chic and trend quay-side cafes and bars is excellent for an evening out. There are many beaches from which to choose, the nearest being about 10 mins by car.
This is a lovely property for those with an artistic flair, who would enjoy an undiscovered part of Greece in authentic surroundings.
