Hydra Island, equal parts cosmopolitan and bohemian, has remained virtually unchanged for decades: it had inspired dozens of artists and it’s the fashionable alternative to the Cyclades islands.
Part of Hydra’s charm stems from the fact that no cars are allowed on the island. Alternatives to walking include the island’s famous donkeys – their saddles decorated with colourful traditional rugs and worry beads – who carry heavy luggage and offer a bumpy, scenic ride around the town, as well as taxi-boats that transport visitors to the island’s small pebbly beaches.
Kalimera & Kalispera Cottage Villas

In Vlychos there are two of the best taverns of Hydra, Marina’s Taverna and Enalion, and a little bar where you can find drinks, ice creams and snacks.
