The villa stands only metres from the shoreline, its long and spacious veranda running the length of the house. Here there are so many lovely places to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the bay against the dazzling colours of the garden or to slip into the sea for a refreshing dip or simply to fish from the veranda and later to eat your catch at the huge marble table whilst watching the sun set over the many small islands.
The villa inside is as appealing as its surroundings. The ground floor has a beautiful living room with lovely views of the bay. A large archway leads to the spacious kitchen with elegant dining table for eight. The living room has a double height ceiling with a gallery running around three sides of its upper level giving a tremendous feeling of light and space. On this level, there is a very pretty bathroom with WC and shower with beautifully detailed mosaic tiles in colours reflecting the sea.
An open tread staircase leads to the upper level which has beautiful carved wooden floors in soft blonde wood and casement windows opening out onto the view of the bay. A lovely feature of the first double bedroom is the small window that is set at just the perfect height to gaze out over the bay from the comfortable bed. With the sound of the waves outside the window, you could almost imagine that you were gazing out of the port hole of a boat. The romantic gallery has a double bed screened off from a single bed with lovely views of the bay. These two bedrooms share a stylish bathroom with mosaic tiling in creams and beiges.
The villa is decorated beautifully throughout with many subtle, artistic touches, pretty rugs and kilims, comfortable sofas, atmospheric lamps and always the sound of the sea. There is air-conditioning throughout and a USB internet stick can be provided (there is currently no WIFI or ADSL available at this point in the bay). For families with small children the villa is well equipped with baby cot and high chair, blender, baby bath and stair-gate.
The property is very private including the beaches and coves below the house and there is a private mooring and small jetty just below the veranda where a boat can be tied. Surrounding the villa is a low fence so that children can play safely without running straight out to the sea and in front there is a small lawn with grass. On the terrace is the large marble table with in-built benches and cushions seating at least 12 guests. To the side of the veranda is the barbecue area with in-built barbecue and sink conveniently placed next to the kitchen door. There are also teak sun loungers and a coffee area shaded by an umbrella to enjoy the views out over the sea.
There is a long beach a few minutes walk from the villa which is usually quiet and within a 5 minute walk in the opposite direction is an excellent taverna on the sea-shore which is open daily during the main part of the season and at weekends at other times. The traditional village of Didima with shops and tavernas set in the hills above Salandi is about 10 mins drive away and there are various pretty fishing villages within a 15 - 20 min drive.
The area of Porto Heli is one of Greece’s little secrets. It is a beautiful part of the Peloponnese with many private islands owned by Greece’s elite and as such the local towns with their 18th and 19th Century mansions and their marinas lined with yachts offer a more exclusive selection of places to dine or shop.
The Sound of the Sea is in the perfect location to enjoy solitude, simplicity and quiet as well as the more harmonious... 'sound of the sea'.
