Villa Ostria is a modern stone villa set on a hillside with wonderful views over the serene bay of Salandi. The villa has a garden with lawns, children's play area and a lovely private swimming pool. The villa is all on one level. The front entrance leads into an open plan room with vaulted ceiling. To one side is a fully equipped kitchen with dining area for 6, and to the other side a comfortable living area with various sofas and chairs centred around a corner fireplace. French windows lead out onto the main terrace overlooking the sea. There are two bedrooms – one with double bed and one with twin beds. These bedrooms both have access to the terrace. There is one large bathroom with shower and WC. The property has air-conditioning throughout and WIFI internet access.
The outside areas of the property are particularly pretty. The long terrace that runs the length of the property is a wonderful spot to enjoy al-fresco dining with the use of an in-built barbecue to one side. The stone pagoda clad in bougainvillea and vines with built in sofas offers a shady retreat from which to sit back and enjoy the panoramic view of the bay below. The gardens are colourful and planted with various Mediterranean flowers and herbs with a lawn running the length of the property and a good sized swimming pool. There is a new children's play area with swings, slide and see-saw.
Salandi Bay is idyllic with still relatively few houses on the bay - Villa Ostria itself only has two neighbouring houses. The local beaches are some of the quietest in the area even in the height of the season. The nearest beach to Villa Ostria is an idyllic cove fringed by pine trees situated a few mins drive/approx 10 mins walk from the villa. At the sea, there is also an excellent taverna generally open daily during the main part of the season and at weekends at other times. The traditional village of Didima with shops and tavernas set in the hills above Salandi is about 10 mins drive away and there are various pretty fishing villages within a 15 -20 min drive.
For those times when you may want to experience something more than traditional tavernas and shops, within easy driving distance there is the refined marina town of Porto Heli i(about 25 mins by car) with its sophisticated selection of restaurants, cafes and shops. The area of Porto Heli is one of Greece’s little secrets. It is an exquisitely beautiful part of the Peloponnese with many private islands owned by Greece’s elite and as such the local towns with their 18th and 19th Century mansions and their marinas lined with yachts offer a more exclusive selection of places to dine or shop.
The archaeological sites of Mycenae, Epidavros, Corinth, Nemea and the Frachtis Cave as well as the Venetian town of Nafplion are within easy driving distance. The unspoilt islands of Hydra and Spetses are also easily accessible in a day trip.Salandi Bay is a quiet and traditional area and is ideal for those wanting to have a low-key, relaxing holiday with tremendous views and in peaceful surroundings, and with some culture and history thrown in.
