The bay of Assos is frequented by all kinds of marine life and it is common to spot a lazy monk seal or a dolphin in the waters below after the yachts depart for safe anchorage. It’s a wonderful area for snorkeling and the sea-shore can be reached easily by a series of steps that meander through bushes of wild thyme, rosemary, cedar and sage. The path leads past the remains of an old lighthouse before arriving at a swimming platform next to the sea. Steps carved into the rock give easy access to the sublime waters.
Lying enticingly in the bay opposite is a small island which can be accessed from Assos by a narrow causeway. This is a wonderful place to walk in the cool of the evening whilst the sun sets over the Lagonissi peninsula.
Assos village itself is host to a small number of traditional eateries, cafes and bars, all walking distance from the villa. The clever layout of villa Tethys is perfect for a family of four wanting a lovely villa, with private swimming pool in exceptional surroundings.
