4 Bedroom Holiday Home in Fossacesia
Luxury Waterfront Holiday Home in Abruzzo on the Adriatic Sea Beach
Introducing Palazzo Marittimo, the elegant 19th century waterfront home of a wealthy merchant that's now been transformed into a luxury holiday home. Facing a Blue Flag beach on the Trabocchi Coast of the Adriatic in Abruzzo, it's perfect for a family/friends party of up to 11. Available to rent: first two floors, approximately 3200 square feet (300 square meters) of a 3-story building (owners' apartment on top), comprised of 2 vaulted ceiling bedroom suites on ground floor : Suite A: 2 queen bedded bedrooms with bath in between, Suite B: 1 queen bedded bedroom, bath, bedroom/sitting room with 2 folding single beds, private garden. There is also, on the middle floor, a full size convertible sofa in one of the living rooms, and a single folding bed in the library.
Middle floor includes gourmet kitchen, dining room, 2 living rooms, library, laundry, 1 full and 1 half baths (with washer), PLUS large balcony facing sea and trabocco (antique fishing pier), very large rear terrace leading to orchard with seasonal fruits, 2 smaller balconies.
Top floor guest suite 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, could be rented for additional fee.
Garage. Walk to grocery, restaurants, gelato.
The owners live on the top floor, and will happily recommend places to go, historic and archeological sites, restaurants and wineries, and where to buy the best and freshest products to eat and drink in the spacious dining room or on the sunny terrace or the balcony overlooking the sea. We can also organize food tours to artisanal producers of olive oil, cheese, honey, cured meats, as well as visits to our favorite local wineries. And tours of neighboring towns and historical places.
Although summer is the prime season for beachgoers, many guests prefer September and October, when the crowds are gone but the weather is still fine. This is the time of the grape harvest, when the cantinas are busy crushing and processing the grapes for the next vintage.

Everything we imagined an Italian holiday house at the seaside would be like. Romanticaly and Gobsmackingly beautiful and extremly attentive and kind hosts.

We have been to Italy many times, and each time has been great. This trip was beyond great, mainly due to our hosts, Gail and Vince. The setting was beautify and the accommodations were spotless and perfect as shown in the pictures. Vince's knowledge of the local towns and recommendations for places to eat and visit made our vacation worry free. If you like good food, beautiful scenery and great people, this is the place to stay. We give it a 5 star rating out of 5 stars. The person who gave it one star must have stayed elsewhere.
Our 2 week visit in Fossacesia Marina with Gail and Vincenzo was like staying with friends who happen to own a very large and comfortable house by the sea. That’s a good thing. The pictures and descriptions of this lovely place shown on their website and given in other reviews are accurate. It’s very spacious and comfortable. Gail and Vince made certain that we and our friends got to visit many of the nearby towns, their favorite wineries and other places of interest, and many times Vince served as our driver and guide. We had a very enjoyable 2 weeks here thanks in no small part to our hosts.

Should you wish to explore a part of Italy that is relatively free from mass tourism then Palazzo Marittimo is the ideal place to base your stay. The owners, Vince and Gail, have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer regarding the surrounding area and you will never be short of something to do.
The house is well maintained and clean with many interesting interior fittings and furnishings which complement the architectural structure of the house.
Sitting out on the terrace for lunch in the warm spring sunshine - with a glass of Abruzzo wine and locally sourced foods- from the farm and even the fish market, what more can you ask?
The area has much to offer the visitor - ancient ruins, interesting towns, exploring the countryside etc as well as many churches and abbeys. You have the coast and mountains on your doorstep.
Vince and Gail arranged for us to have a typical italian lunch at a farm as well as arranging a gastronomic 10 course fish menu at the house. Nothing is too much trouble for these friendly and interesting owners - they simply wish to ensure you have a good time and enjoy your holiday.
To gain the most from your stay you will need a hire car. We flew into Rome and drove across to the east coast (21/2 hours).
I am looking forward to returning, the sooner the better!

Dear Gail and Vincent, What A Week! We just loved your home and marvel at what you have accomplished. However, The real love of your villa belongs to you both. The moment we met, we felt as though we had known you both for years.
Vince, you have taken us to places and showed and explained everything. We could not have seen all this beauty by ourselves if we had stayed for 3 weeks. You are a fantastic and tireless tour guide.that also knew all the best restaurants and trattorias. We just loved being with you.
Gail, you are so full of spirit and happiness that it lights up the whole house. Your touches have created a warm and lovely home. The beautiful sitting room and the lovely bedrooms and bathrooms combined with a great kitchen make this a real home away from home. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning on the balcony over looking the sea, and each evening having cocktails on the large terrace. What a lovely feeling one has when they first step into your home.
You are a great couple and we have found new friends. See you next May

This is our third year returning to this amazing house and area and it just gets better year after year , this year we choose not to do as much sight seeing and just really enjoyed the house spending the days on the beach and the evenings cooking with wonderful local fresh produce and eating on the beautiful terrace with the of course some amazing wine that Vince made sure we never run out off we really did have a truly relaxing time and Gail and Vince as always the perfect hosts.
We would definitely recommend this property brilliant location for the beach and for the other local facilities , shops and restaurants , the house is true to its description and extremely well kept and clean and customer service does not get any better.

We are returning "guests" of Vince and Gail. The "guest" word is probably not realistic as we are more like family, than guests! They were so helpful in making our stay relaxing and being able to get away. Of course, waking up and looking out the window at the Adriatic Sea with beautiful weather certainly helps! We hosted some of our Italian relatives for a 20-person Italian style fish dinner on the back deck and ate (and of course, drank wine) underneath the canopy of grapes and the Italian moonlight. Bella! This is a fantastic place to stay any time of year, especially if you want to see the Abruzzo (east) side of Italy. We were able to drive our rental from Rome in less than 3 hours. Having relatives in Italy is certainly a bonus for our family, but if you don't have relatives, Vince and Gail can fill-in, to make your stay comfortable and take the stress of being in a different country, as they will provide you with things to do, places to go, information, and even hang out, and dare I say, drink wine with you if you want! Thanks for another fantastic stay! Ciao!

It was very easy to drive by car from the Pescaro airport to Fossacecia. Then there was a warm welcome with Vince and Gail. They where our personal guide the whole week. Where to go, what to see, where to eat and nice talkings about Italiens and Americans.
The Pallazzo Marittimo was a great house to stay with 7 persons. Everything was clean and well-maintained Lying in your bed you can hear the sea.
The area is not very touristic so not everyone does speak English, but that's humor. But the Italien people where very kind and helpfull.
If you like fish and pizza for reasonable prices, this is the place to go to.
Certainly a place to go back once!

Three friends and I have just gotten home after a week in beautiful Fossacesia Marina. We could not have had a better time. There is a lot to see and do in Abruzzo -- great restaurants, artisanal food tours, wineries, and archeological sites -- and you can get up and go every day or, if you prefer, you can laze on the beach or on owners Gail and Vince's sun-dappled patio.
Gracious hostess and host, expert tour guides, and inimitable storytellers about life in Italy, Gail and Vince want nothing more than to assure that your vacation is the best ever. Their exquisitely renovated and decorated home offers a level of luxury and comfort -- to say nothing of a good night's sleep in the fresh sea air -- uncommon in vacation rentals. I can't wait to return.

Staying at this villa right on the beautiful Adriatic coast would be a great holiday experience but add in the presence of the owners Gail and Vince and it becomes something very special. They are always happy to assist in any way that they can to make your stay perfect -.nothing is too much trouble for them when it comes to helping you get the most out of what amazing Abruzzo .has to offer.
The pictures are better than words to show how beautiful the house and gardens are. The house is pristine and Vassily the gardener does an amazing job with the grounds. How many places can you wander from the house and depending on the season pick lemons, clementines, figs, strawberries, grapes and nuts? And just outside the front of the house is the lovely Fossacesia blue flag beach and historic Trabocchi coast.

We stayed again at Palazzo Maritima in September 2012.
What a great time of year to go! The weather is fabulous but the beach is almost empty and sea still warm.
The villa offers every amenity you can think of - and more! A stunning place to spend your holiday when most of the regular tourists have gone but the sun is still shining and the restaurants and activities are all still available.
