We are 2 families with 4 children between us and have just spent a wonderful 2 weeks on Lefkas, in a fabulous villa with the most breathtaking views of the sea, on a small hillside in the little village of Lygia. The owners, the charming Ioannis and the beautiful Tina, are two of the most welcoming and generous people we have ever met...and Christina their daughter....what a cutie!
The pictures do not do the villa or the views justice. The villa has 4 large double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, with excellent wardrobe and storage space. The furnishings in the whole of the villa were obviously new and very tasteful.
The layout of the villa was excellent for two sharing families - we each had a floor to ourselves which gave us a degree of privacy.
The kitchen was excellently equipped: dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave and a huge fridge freezer, lots of cutlery and crockery so we didn't even have to continually work the dishwasher! The sandwich toaster went down a treat with the kids!
The property was maintained daily, has a good size infinity pool where you can float and watch the boats go by...a memory we will never forget. The sun beds and outside furniture were 'just right'.
The villa was fully cleaned 5 times whilst we were there and the linen, towels and pool towels were changed regularly. Katerina was an excellent cleaner!
The location of the property was perfect for us as we had hired cards...situated between two tiny harbours (Lygia and Porto Nikiana) that each had 3 very good restaurants...we did not once have a bad meal and we ate out every night. And the barrel wine is great value for money!
The beaches were quite pebbly on this side of the island but there was a good beach club, The K Club, less than 10 minutes drive away. Nidri, a larger town, is just over 10 minutes drive away and was great for watersports and an early evening gin and tonic at the Sail Inn!
The island is small enough to hop in the car and be at the farthest reaches in a maximum of 40 minutes. We had a lovely couple of days at Kathisma beach which was sandy and gorgeous turquoise waters...
One of the best days was with Ioannis on his 45ft motor boat...Ferrari of the sea! We had an incredible day: an experience not to be missed, sailing to bays unreachable by car and swimming in the turquoise waters.
So as you can perhaps gather, we were smitten with Lefkas, Ioannis and Tina and will definitely return.
