Madison Room
Savor this room.....as if you were the master and mistress of the plantation, Col. and Mrs. John Willis. The Madison Room was the master bed room.
Their room is designed to honor his great uncle President James Madison and wife, Dolley. The ruby red wall covering was Dolley's choice for their bed drapes. The four poster king size bed is adjacent to the marble fireplace. A vintage claw foot tub with overhead shower and antique marble lavatory grace the bath. This spacious and very romantic room overlooks the pond.

School House
The original Mayhurst Plantation School House (c 1837) is completely restored with all modern amenities. The perfect place for a romantic stay. School was NEVER like this.
The Willis children likely sat through many a class in the "school house." Although they had the same fireplace, they didn't have central air and heat, a full bath, kitchen, and a queen size bed.
Restorations were completed in September 2004. Guests can choose to enjoy all the amenities of the Manor House and enjoy the nights in the privacy and warmth of their own "class room" or the kitchen can be stocked for their own use. Virginia Wine or Champagne can be included to make a perfect stay even better.

Piedmont Suite
The Colonists called it the Uplands.
Today that gently sloping, rolling pastoral land at the base of the Blue Ridge is known as the Piedmont. Mayhurst was a 1700 acre Piedmont plantation. Our Piedmont Suite is two rooms divided by the bathroom, which has a shower over the tub. The romantic queen bedchamber with fireplace has a quiet, private location on the third floor. Relax in the sitting room on the wicker daybed, or a big comfy chair with the in-room cable TV and VCR.

Southern Charm Room
Looking as it might have in plantation days, this cheery blue and white room receives morning sun through a palladium window and overlooks the pond.
Romance, luxury and history make this room perfect for the couple looking for a special time together. This was the original Mayhurst Guest Room and General "Stonewall" Jackson was a guest here on August 6, 1862. He would have enjoyed the double whirlpool tub in front of the wood burning fireplace and the king size bed!
