A Bed of Roses: A Unique Bed and Breakfast in a Wonderful Location 10 miles from the Entrance to Yosemite National Park
A Bed of Roses is a unique bed and breakfast in a wonderful location 10 miles from the entrance to Yosemite National Park, home of world-famous waterfalls, hiking, bicycling, rafting and rock climbing. We are five miles from scenic Bass Lake, where you can swim, rent a speed boat, party barge, or jet-ski, shop, dine or just relax, and only five minutes from Oakhurst, CA.
Oakhurst has many fine restaurants, shopping, two large grocery stores, a movie theater, and three nearby golf courses. Check out our location on the map. We have four comfortable bedrooms to choose from, with king size beds and futons in two of the rooms and queen size beds in the other two, a private deck in two rooms, jetted tubs in three rooms, a sparkling seasonal swimming pool, free Wi-Fi and a large 32-inch TV/DVD with Direct TV in each of the rooms. We have a large selection of free DVDs. A delicious breakfast is served daily! Many have called it the best breakfast of their trip.
Immediately upon turning into Whispering Pines Dr., I saw A Bed of Roses and was transported back to my childhood to the lakes of Minnesota. The air was fragrant with a memorable scent evocative of running through summer grasses and taking early summer dips in warm, squishy-bottomed lake waters.
The aroma of freshly baked something assailed my nostrils and the sight of our room flooded my memories of good times and happy family moments. The cool, blue pool lowered my temperature while it heightened my expectations - all of which were surpassed in a delightful, restorative week's stay.It was better than a spa stay, more restful than a cruise, and all one could wish for a vacation! We stayed in the Garden Rose Room with my wife Anna, our 2 daughters and their cousin. The views in the room, of the surrounding mountains, were spectacular and with so many windows, it felt like we were always outdoors! We enjoyed the swimming pool, the deck, the food and the company of Steve and Mary Kay, who were very gracious hosts and made you feel like you were family! We saw a lot of wildlife while just sitting on the deck enjoying mother nature, including a deer and a couple eagles soaring above us. We have not stopped talking about our visit there since we have left and we will definitely be back! Thank you Steve and Mary Kay for helping make such a beautiful memory for our family! Brian A. What's wonderful about this place is the HOSPITALITY of the owners! In my 93 years, I've travelled throughout the world, but this is one of the best places I've ever stayed. Frank H., Honolulu, Hawaii
About Us
You expect to be treated well and to be appreciated when you travel. That is what you will receive should you give us the opportunity. We are Steve and Mary Kay Eicholtz, former teachers continuing an adventure as the owners of A Bed of Roses. We are very excited to be here, just 10 miles from Yosemite, and would appreciate the chance to create many enjoyable experiences for you in this peaceful home environment that celebrates nature's beauty.
Whether you are wanting help organizing your time in Yosemite or just want to know the best nearby restaurants, we can help with recommendations, reservations, and transportation arrangements. Our seasonal pool is just steps from the rooms, and the grandeur of the night-time sky is comfortably observed from the community deck right outside the living room door.
The Garden Rose is literally surrounded on three sides with windows that frame panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, making it pristine and inspiring. Standing modestly in the shower (no tub) you can see trees and sky above the curtains and be doubly refreshed. This large room can accommodate four, and has a sitting area with a futon (full) and a California King bed
that is so inviting you may miss the sunrise over the mountains just outside your windows.
The Red Rose has it all, with a private deck, a log cabin vaulted ceiling, a separate entrance, double sinks, shower, and jetted tub. It also has a luxurious California King bed and a very comfortable futon (full bed). This is a very spacious room with great views that just may include a soaring eagle. This is a great year-round room, and is perfect for holiday get-aways. Keep watching for our special seasonal promotions.
The Country Rose has a bedroom with cedar-lined walls, a plush queen bed, a large Jacuzzi tub, and a private deck with a bistro table. This cozy room, separated from the rest of the house, with its own private entrance, is ideal for a couple who enjoys private moments together. And it's just steps away from an afternoon dip or lazy evening around the swimming pool. People really like this unique room, so book now.
The Wild Rose isn't for everyone. Rose herself looks down on the jetted tub with a skylight (no shower) and oversees a "funky" purple room with chocolate-brown accents that connects with the main area of the house, making it easy to be the first to the Keurig coffee maker in the morning for Newman's Own organic coffee. Don't worry. It's easy to get a good night's rest or a power nap in the luxurious queen-sized bed.
