South Bohemia is a region of castles and fortresses. Hluboká has recently been completely renovated and is the most visited castle. It is a beautiful place and is built in the Tudor style. It looks a bit like Windsor Castle in England. Hluboká is a lively and pleasant place with zoo and outdoor pool. Around this romantic Bohemian castle is a park. Orlik Castle is built high on a rock and situated on the river Vltava. Since the construction of the dam Orlik the castle has almost sunk in the water, which also has its charm. Cervena Lhota is one of the most romantic castles of Bohemia and is also situated on a rock in a lake. Castle Kratochvil makes a similar impression; it's a slot with a permanent exhibition of puppets and animation films. Also ruins and castles are often visited by tourists especially Rožmberk Castle and the famous ruins Divci Kamen, (10 km north of Cesky Krumlov). Moreover, the monastery of Vyssi Brod with its magnificent historical library is worth a visit.
