Our desire was to create residential apartment-suites offering simple luxury and relaxation, in absolute harmony with the sea and our green environment. Welcome to Pefkides!
The Pefkides apartment-suites are located 300 m far from Marathopoli, Messinia and face the Ionian Sea and the Proti Island.
Pine trees, pistacia, thyme and wild lavender embrace the apartments -suites and fill the air with scent.
The location is idyllic; the view over the Ionian is clear and the access to the sea direct. Alternatively, you can relax by the pool, while the children play in the garden. You can also enjoy reading a book under the shadow of the trees or even going for a walk in the small natural pine forest that surrounds our apartments-suites. The distance of Pefkides apartment-suites from the surrounding houses guarantees an absolute peace and quiet. During the night you can enjoy the starry sky together with the sound and the scent of nature.
Pefkides apartment-suites consist of 5 spacious and independent apartment-suites (four of 57 sqm and one of 40 sqm) with a large garden and a shared pool. Each apartment-suite, which can accommodate 2-5 people, gives the feeling of absolute freedom and ensures an unobstructed view to nature.
Four of the apartments-suites have two floors and an internal staircase. The balconies of the upper floor are architecturally designed, in order for you to enjoy your coffee overlooking the sea and the Proti Island framed by the green of the pine trees. One of the apartments-suites is designed for access to people with disabilities (or simply those who do not like stairs).
All the apartments-suites are air-conditioned. The decoration is subtle and with earthy tones, while the large coco-mat beds made of natural materials guarantee you sweet dreams in the sound of the crickets from the bush. Parking is available inside the complex.
The names given to the rooms are based on the surrounding nature:
Aloe
Lavender
Daphne
Agave
Skinos
Marathopoli or Marathos, as it is mostly known to the locals, is a picturesque fishing village in western Messinia. It has about 700 residents and is about 70 km far from the city of Kalamata and 27 km from Pylos. There are a lot of taverns to be found by the seafront promenade serving fresh fish and locally produced meat. Those who fancy nightlife can spend some time in the bars, as some of them stay open until early in the morning.
In Marathos you will find whatever you may need, from the best watermelon to the sea air matress that you may have forgotten at home. Do not forget to try the pastries, the traditional “lalagia” and “diples” from the local bakeries. Known for its olives, its olive oil and its delicious fruits and vegetables, the Messinian gastronomy is a characteristic example of the Mediterranean diet, which has been declared as a good of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
No matter where exactly in Marathos you stand, you cannot ignore the Proti Island that dominates in the middle of the Ionian Sea, famous for the attacks made by the pirates. The Proti Island is not inhabited, but can be visited by boat. You can visit it therefore by boat, walk and swim in the crystal clear waters of the unique beach, Vourlia. It is customary for the locals and the visitors to visit the Church of the Assumption on the island on August 23.
The area is a paradise for beach lovers. There are all the kinds of beaches nearby, popular among the high-society and isolated as well, from long sandy areas to small bays with small pebbles; Mati (Chrysi Akti), Lagouvardos, Vromoneri, Agia Sotira, Barlas. On these beaches you can find whatever you are looking for, from relaxing swimming to diving, snorkeling, surfing, sea kayak and sunset cocktails.
Really close is located the beautiful and so famous Voidokilia beach with its medieval castle-guard and its neighbour Gialova lagoon, which is a temporary home for migratory birds (Natura 2000).You can enjoy the clear waters in Divari, access by boat or sea kayak the island of Sfaktiria and its monument, do kite-surfing in Petrochori and Romanos … and of course visit Pylos with its historic and perfectly-preserved castle in the entrance of the picturesque harbor.
